Was checking to confirm the hours today when I saw this notice. I know AEC had stopped taking glass for a while, but I thought they started back some time ago. I could have sworn I brought some by just a few weeks ago. Either way, I’m VERY glad we have AEC!!!

Webster defines the word “temporarily” as “for a small amount of time, maybe a few months or a season”. It’s been over half a year now since we stopped being able to recycle glass! You need to change the “temporarily cannot accept glass” to “we are sorry we are not a full service recycling center, please take all your recyclables to Target?!

Just called The Trussville Target and Brookwood Village Target both taking glass. They said grab a buggy load it up and park it by the bins. They will unload it if there are a bunch! I’ll be doing this!

What does Target do with the collected glass? Obviously Target is not sending the glass to AEC. Do they indeed send the collected glass to some other regional recycling center, or does the glass end up in their trash dumpster? I hope Target is following through with their recycling of glass and isn’t using it as a way of attracting customers under the guise of providing a much needed and appreciated community service.
