AEC Green Drinks: Celebrating 50 Years of the Sipsey Wilderness with Wild Alabama

April 10 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for our next Green Drinks happy hour “Celebrating 50 Years of the Sipsey Wilderness” at our EAT Sustainability partner Cahaba Brewing Co. in their main taproom on Thursday, April 10, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Talk will begin promptly at 6 p.m. This Green Drinks will be a little longer than usual to celebrate this important milestone!

Our guest speakers include our very own board member Pat Byington and Kim Waites, Wilderness Stewardship Coordinator for Wild Alabama. This talk will focus on the importance of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the Eastern Wilderness Act of 1975, highlighting the Alabama Environmental Council’s roots in wilderness advocacy, dating back to its former manifestation as the Alabama Conservancy and its role in the designation of the Sipsey Wilderness. Kim will discuss how these landmark pieces of legislation have shaped public land stewardship and conservation efforts, as well as her work in education and hands-on conservation to inspire others to protect and connect with these wild places.

Free & open to the public! Cake will be provided! $15 suggested donation to support our mission. RSVP by clicking here (please mention RSVP for this Green Drinks April 10th in the comment/message section) & click here to donate. RSVP not required but encouraged for planning purposes.
